If you have ever found yourself daydreaming, watching TV, praying or you are just about to drop off to sleep, your brain has powered down into alpha mode, operating on a frequency that promotes complete relaxation and an alternative awareness.
Let’s rewind, the brain operates on four different brain wave frequencies: alpha, beta, delta and theta, and each different brain offers a different mode of awareness.
When using singing bowls and other forms of relaxation techniques like meditation, the goal is to reach the alpha mode, which allows you to explore different areas of physic awareness… awake, certainly conscious but more relaxed. It is the ideal mental state for your subconscious to receive information as you are relaxed and open to suggestion, which in turn will have a direct effect on your conscious self.
Now for the science; alpha brain waves operate on a frequency ranging between 8–12 Hz and are produced by electrical activity within cells in humans. The waves can be detected using a medical device called an electroencephalography (EEG) during times of relaxation, drowsiness or sleep.
If you have ever wondered why you can remember some things but not others, the answer lies in the alpha mode. If you learn something during this state you are more likely to remember it.
